God’s Heart For Mummies

This morning I was listening to the Book of Luke Chapter One and something jumped out to me so significantly like it never did before was how God had let Mary and Elizabeth conceive John and Jesus 6 months apart and do motherhood together. They met and shared each other’s joy!

In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.

Interestingly, my sister’s son Ezra is exactly 6 months younger than my second daughter Zoe. EXACTLY 6 months apart. Born on the same date of different months, the 28th. What are the odds? There are NO ODDS.  I know that we are so loved by God and that he blessed us with our kids 6 months apart so that we could do this season of motherhood together. So that our kids could grow up together. That’s the heart of God. He showed it to me so clearly this morning, even with Elizabeth and Mary. He could have easily let John the Baptist be born to someone else or even years earlier to make way for Jesus. It could have been 2 years but WHILE Elizabeth was pregnant and still experiencing the joy of expecting, MARY conceived.

There’s something very special about EXPECTING at the same time as other mummies. Moms you walk with  in life in the same season… they are who God has placed in your lives. How it somehow seems like even though we try to get pregnant at different times, we all end up getting pregnant at the same time? That’s what happened with me and my 2 childhood friends. Our kids are now just months apart and growing up together. This is the grace of God! How he allows us to be in the same season of life together.

This is his heart, this is his grace, this is his love for mummies and babies. Even in this, his heart is for you to have community and not to walk through bringing a life to this world alone. HE is FOR YOU. HE LOVES MUMMIES SO MUCH! AND the Daddies too, of course! ❤ ( just speaking for the mummies out there! ) BIG HUG.
